UMD’s Student Entertainment Events will be hosting its 38th annual All Niter event on October 4, 2019 at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union. The latest in a long line of All Niters, the event will start at noon and will continue until midnight.
A variety of events and special deals will be available for UMD students at Stamp while the All Niter is going on, and were available before it even started – beginning at 7:30 AM, the Union Shop gave out free drink koozies with any drink purchase, and the Coffee Bar did the same at 8:00 AM.
Events at the All Niter include screenings of “Toy Story 4” and “Scream,” a Super Smash Bros. tournament in TerpZone, drag queen bingo and an escape room.
There are also several performances at the All Niter – most notably, a concert from Cautious Clay. The singer-songwriter and record producer, known for his single “Cold War” and its sampling in Taylor Swift’s “Lover” album, will be performing in the Grand Ballroom at 8:30 PM. There will also be a performance from Julissa Calderon and Gadiel Del Orbe, both of Buzzfeed “Pero Like” fame. Calderon recently left “Pero Like,” and will be in the upcoming Netflix series “Gentefied.”
These performances are a new addition to the All Niter, according to Laura McGrath, the manager of student programs at the Stamp Student Union. With running an event with as long a history as the All Niter, “it is hard to keep people interested in all of the events,” so having a variety of things to do is important. Of the activities offered this year, she said, “I believe this year we have quiet events, entertainment, active [events], and you could probably win something at all of the events.”
One thing she recommends that students not miss out on is the Drag Bingo event, which will feature about $2000 in prizes. With the large assortment of activities and entertainment offered, this year’s All Niter seems like a can’t-miss event.
