Hey ladies, here’s some ladies!

Although women should be acknowledged and appreciated every day, Women’s History Month is a great reminder and opportunity to empower the women around you.

To celebrate all types of women, here’s a list of 10 songs by powerful ladies, in addition to a whole playlist with songs from women of different races, backgrounds and sexualities.

  1. “Run the World (Girls),” Beyoncé

Nobody says it better than Beyoncé! I think this one is self-explanatory.

    2.   “God is a Woman,” Ariana Grande

With some controversy surrounding the title, Grande released an anthem about female sexual liberation.

    3.   “Dead to Me,” Kali Uchis

Singing about an overly-obsessive person who she wants to get rid of, Kali Uchis produced a song most women can probably relate to. This catty, yet fun, song is something you can sing, and also yell, along to.

    4.    “Power,” Little Mix

This uplifting song by four fierce ladies reminds us that we do, in fact, got that power. I chose the version without Stormzy rapping, because although we appreciate allies, this is a women’s playlist.

    5.    “Pussy is God,” King Princess

Although this excludes women who don’t have a pussy, this song is for all the ladies who love ladies.

    6.    “Juice,” Lizzo

Lizzo created a body positive bop, all while looking fantastic, twerking, playing the flute and serving vocals. Can it get better than this? No.

    7.     “Independent Women, Pt. 1,” Destiny’s Child

Who hasn’t created a choreographed dance number to this song with their two best friends when they were younger? The real question is, were you Beyoncé, Kelly, or Michelle?

    8.     “Pynk (feat. Grimes),” Janelle Monáe

Although this entire album was filled with anthem after anthem, I had to choose the ode to the female genitalia.

    9.     “She Wolf,” Shakira

Our queen Shakira blessed us with an anthem to celebrate the animal within each and every one of us.

  10.     “***Flawless (feat. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie), ” Beyoncé

All things begin and end with Beyoncé, so it’s only natural.
