The rain did little to dampen the spirits of attendees at the March for Science in Washington, D.C. on Earth Day. Thousands of people turned up to listen to speakers like Bill Nye the Science Guy and to show their opposition to Trump’s policies and rejection of fact. Like with all marches in today’s age, attendees brought signs to showcase their creativity, with many wearing lab coats and showing how Trump’s policies affect their research.
Despite the march for science occurring on Earth Day, many attendees were not so conscious of their litter, with trashcans across the city overflowing with signs and other trash. (Julia Lerner/The Writer’s Bloc)

Marchers brought a wide array of signs, including some with quotes from prominent scientists. This quote, from Albert Einstein, plays on the word “complicit,” a word that has been used to describe Ivanka Trump during her father’s presidency. (Julia Lerner/The Writer’s Bloc)

As with all marches, individuals protesting the movement frequently show up to protest. This individual believes that the science movement is contributing to the rise in abortions, and believes that Trump’s policies will help the pro-life movement. Soon after this man started chanting, a human wall formed around him of people chanting “my body, my choice.” (Julia Lerner/The Writer’s Bloc)
